Right from the check in, we were amazed by how beautiful and serene everything looked and was. The service was attentive and discreet. The rooms were great. We had a suite and were very happy with it. There are many of stairs in the room, so it is not good for seniors. The only thing we were unhappy about was the number of bug bites we came away with. We were attacked while lounging by the pool which was in close proximity to the forest behind the Ayung River. The "Off" insect spray provided by the hotel didn’t seem to help a lot. Bring your own more powerful spray! Food was ok, but a little bit expensive. I recommend eating at the restaurants in the ubud center.
Mosaic and Naughty Nuri's are good bets and excellent value for money - a perfect complement to our stay at the Four Seasons sayan.
Maybe if the price of food could be made cheaper than now, may be it becomes the real paradise.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Four Seasons Sayan. It is just such an incredible space to be in and leaves you feeling very relaxed and at peace. I felt so happy in the suites that I wouldn't bother paying the extra for a villa. If you get the included breakfast then you can probably survive until late afternoon (buy some snacks in town). It is worth spending the money on the day spa and having a cocktail by the pool! The swimming pool I s Fantastic!!
It is true that the hotel has aged ever so slightly but you could not get a better example of amazing architecture. As with most luxury hotels you tend to be quite separated from the 'real culture' of the country you are in but at this price and with things this nice it is almost worth setting aside a few days to just stay put and enjoy!
Do yourself a favor, save up and go. Just for a few days.

If you can past the trip to the hotel you will doing well. Hotel is located in a peaceful area. Fresh air and the sounds of birds is got to be a bonus. Rooms are quite sizable with many relaxing features. Would visit again for privacy. Read more |
